ADA believes that this program offers high-quality education that is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment.
The Association’s Education Recognition Certificate assures that educational programs meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education Programs. These Standards were developed and tested under the auspices of the National Diabetes Advisory Board in 1983 and were revised by the diabetes community in 1994 and 2000.
Programs apply for Recognition voluntarily. Programs that achieve Recognition status have a staff of knowledgeable health professionals who can provide participants with comprehensive information about diabetes management.
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) announced that Dr. Thomas Jones & The
Jones Center for Diabetes and Wellness has received a recognition from the Diabetes Physician Recognition Program for providing quality care to their
patients with diabetes.
The Diabetes Physician Recognition Program was designed to improve the quality of care that patients with diabetes receive by recognizing physicians who
deliver quality diabetes care and by motivation other physicians to document and improve their delivery of diabetes care. To receive recognition, which
is valid for three years, Dr. Thomas C. Jones & The Jones Center for Diabetes and Wellness submitted data that demonstrates performance that meets the
Program’s key diabetes measures including eye exams, blood pressure tests, nutrition therapy and patient satisfaction among others.
The Jones Center for Diabetes and Endocrine Wellness has attained recognition for its
commitment to providing a high level of patient care and quality testing for the
diagnosis of vascular disease. The facility achieved accreditation by the
Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).
The Jones Center for Diabetes and Endocrine Wellness, located in Macon, Georgia,
is one of a select number of vascular laboratories in the United States, Canada and
Puerto Rico to meet or exceed the ICAVL standards for noninvasive vascular testing.
During the accreditation process, every aspect of the laboratory's daily operations
and its impact on the quality of health care provided to patients is assessed and
reviewed. While completing the application, laboratories are required to identify
and correct potential problems, revising protocols and validating quality assurance
programs.
